Mata Tirtha Aaunshi(Aama ko Mukh Herne Din) is an auspicious festival in Nepal which is widely celebrated by Hindu religion. It is known as Mother's Day in Nepal.
Every year Mata Tirtha Aaunshi comes in the month of Baisakh (April).
It is called Mata Tirtha Aunshi because it falls in the time of dark moon's time. The meaning of Mata is Mother and Tirtha means pilgrimage.
On this auspicious day, people worship their living mother, give gifts and take blessings. People who don't have mother or passed away go to the Matatirtha place located in Kathmandu.
